We are located in the valley of the River Gardon which provides plenty of possibilities to explore and discover the region. Discover our charming Gardois villages of Saint-Hilaire-d’Ozilhan, Vers-Pont-du-Gard, Castillon-du-Gard, etc. Would you like to know the history of our region? Explore the Pont du Gard, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Uzès, a city of art and history, Nimes or Avignon. Do you need to recharge your batteries? From the guesthouse, you will find many hiking trails through the vineyards and Garrigues (scrubland) that you can criss-cross on foot or by bicycle. Do you love sports? A few kilometers from the guesthouse, you can travel down the River Gardon by canoe, discover the region by bicycle on the many green tracks, hike on horseback, or improve your golf at the Uzès Golf Club. Love your food and a bit of a gourmet? Whether at our own table or in one of the restaurants, we are here to offer advice so come and taste our local produce, the black truffles of Uzès, the olives, the figs, the onions of Vers Pont du Gard and our wines: Côtes du Rhône, Côteaux Pont du Gard and Duché d’Uzès. Saint-Hilaire-d’Ozilhan
Saint-Hilaire-d’Ozilhan is a quiet and welcoming village which is typical of the Gard area. It is a few kilometers from the Pont du Gard. From the guesthouse, there are several hiking trails where you can discover the Garrigue scrubland, olive groves and vineyards
The Pont du Gard 6 km
The highest aqueduct known in the Roman world and the Pont du Gard is just 6 kilometers from L’Ostal. It was built in the 1st Century, between 40 and 50 A.D., and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Plan a half day to visit the museum, discover the small, educational paths, lunch by the water and, on sunny days, take a dip in the refreshing river. Try descending the Gardon Gorge by canoe and experience going under the bridge’s arches. Do not miss the light shows in the summer evenings.
Discover our beautiful Gard villages
A few kilometers from our village, take time to go and visit the nearby village of Vers Pont du Gard, its pretty village square and its beautiful quarried stone. Castillon-du-Gard is also close by, a medieval village with a panoramic views over the Pont du Gard. Also close by is Uzès, known for its art and history, Saint-Siffret, etc. Or maybe travel a little further to Lussan, La Roque sur Cèze…

Avignon 23 km
The Christianity capital of the Middle Ages, has two grandiose buildings from this period. 30 minutes from L’Ostal, you can discover the charm of the famous Saint-Bénezet Bridge and the wealth of the Popes Palace; both UNESCO World Heritage sites. In July, immerse yourself in the excitement of Avignon’s Festival of Theatre.
Villeneuve-lès-Avignon 20 km
Opposite the papal city, on the other side of the Rhône, Villeneuve-lès-Avignon also offers a sublime medieval heritage and a whisp of calm in the July Avignon madness. Also worth seeing: La Chartreuse du Val de Bénédiction, Fort Saint-André, Tour Philippe Le Bel.
Nîmes 26 km
Go back in time and discover Nîmes with its two thousand years of history. Known as the “little Rome”, it is rich in monuments and endowed with an exceptional ancient heritage. A city on a human scale, with places not to be missed that can be explored on foot such as the arena, the Magne Tower, the Maison Carrée, the gardens of La Fontaine, the Temple of Diana, etc.
Uzès 20 km
Uzès, city of art and history, is one of the places not to be missed in the region with its impressive building heritage such as the Duchy or the cathedral. There is also the medieval gardens and open-air markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

Savour our gourmet heritage
Another great reason to love our land as you sample what we eat and what we drink. The Gard region boasts 5 exceptional tastes: the truffles of Uzès and the Pont du Gard, the onions of the Cevennes hills, the figs of Vézénobres (photo opposite), the Camargue bull, and the olives and olive oil of Nîmes.
Each season brings new delicacies passionately grown by local producers: asparagus and strawberries from April, then cherries, apricots, peaches, apples. There is also goat’s cheese (photo opposite), honeys, and brandade (a Provençal dish consisting of salt cod mixed into a puree with olive oil and milk) ….
