Saint-Hilaire-d’Ozilhan

Saint-Hilaire-d’Ozilhan is a quiet, welcoming village typical of the Gard region, just a few kilometres from the Pont du Gard. From the house, you can explore our garrigue, olive groves and vineyards along several footpaths.

Le Pont du Gard à 6 km

The highest known bridge-aqueduct in the Roman world, the Pont du Gard, is 6 km from l’Ostal. Built in the 1st century, between 40 and 50 AD, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Allow half a day to visit the museum, discover the educational trails, have lunch by the water and, in fine weather, take a dip in the refreshing Gardon river. Try canoeing down the Gorges du Gardon and glide under its arches; in the evening, don’t miss the illuminations on the bridge.

Avignon, the capital of Christianity in the Middle Ages, has preserved two of its great monuments. Just 30 minutes from l’Ostal, discover the charm of the famous Pont Saint-Bénezet and the richness of the Palais des Papes, both listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Another excellent reason to love our region is what we eat and drink here. The Gard boasts 5 Sites of Exceptional Taste: Truffles from Uzès and Pont du Gard, onions from the Cévennes, figs from Vézénobres (photo opposite), bulls from the Camargue and olives and oils from Nîmes.
Each season brings new delicacies grown with passion by our local producers: asparagus and strawberries from April, then cherries, apricots, peaches, apples… And also goat’s cheese (photo opposite), brandade, honeys…
You’ll find all these products at our table, in keeping with the seasonal nature of the produce and favouring short (and even very short) distribution channels.

A history of vines and wines

And to accompany all these delicious dishes, the wines of our region… Saint-Hilaire-d’Ozilhan is home to eight wine estates and a cooperative cellar in the Côtes du Rhône appellation region.
